National Park Service Programs

The National Park Service at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve offers an array of special programs for its visitors and caters to a wide range of travelers.

9:00 AM - Ranger’s Choice Hike: National Park Rangers will meet guests in the lobby of the Glacier Bay Lodge. Each morning, a ranger leads a 3 ½ hour hike to a destination of his or her choice. Be sure to come prepared with sturdy boots, water, and rain gear. Offered June 1 – August 31.

2:00 PM - Forest Loop Trail Guided Walk: National Park Rangers conduct daily 1 ½ hour guided walks along the Forest Loop Trail. This walk departs from the lobby of Glacier Bay Lodge.

Visitor Center Films

The National Park Service shows several films daily in the Visitor Center auditorium, located on the second floor of Glacier Bay Lodge.

1:15 PM - "Treasures of the Great Land: Alaska's National Parks" - Discover the richness and diversity preserved in Alaska's 16 national parks.

5:00 PM - "Glacier Bay: Forever Wild" - Learn about Glacier Bay's cultural and natural history.

7:00 PM - "Glacier Bay: Beneath the Reflections" - This award-winning film takes viewers into the underwater world of Glacier Bay to meet some of the creatures that call this park home.

Park Ranger Programs

8:00 PM - National Park Rangers present a program in the auditorium that explores different aspects of Glacier Bay. This program last from 30 to 40 minutes and topics change daily. Topics are posted at Visitor Center Information Desk and the bulletin board on the lodge front porch.
