Glacier Bay Essentials

The key to being comfortable while Alaska is to dress in layers so that you can adjust your level of warmth to your own needs and adapt with the changes in the weather. We recommend that you pack these essentials:

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Water and wind proof jacket and pants
  • Insulating layer of wool or fleece
  • Turtleneck or long-sleeved shirt for layering
  • Synthetic underwear tops and bottoms
  • Warm sturdy footwear (ideally waterproof) and warm socks
  • Warm hat to cover your ears
  • Gloves
  • Lip balm for wind protection

Remember – as the Norwegians say – “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!” So be sure you bring good clothing on your Alaska trip.
